How Updrift behaves on Bluesky

A plain statement for anyone who wants to know what a connected account is letting in. No marketing in it.

What Updrift reads

Through Bluesky's own sign-in, with the scopes shown on Bluesky's consent screen. Your followers and following, your posts and the engagement they receive, your notifications (to count replies and, on the Free plan, nothing else), and public posts and profiles in the topics you choose. Nothing is read from an account you have not connected, except what Bluesky shows to everyone.

What Updrift writes

• Posts: only the ones you wrote and scheduled in the Planner, at the time you chose or in your queue, after you have given a separate posting permission on Bluesky's consent screen. It never writes a post, a reply or a message of its own. Reposts and quotes only ever go between your own connected accounts, under rules you set.
• Labels: the content label you chose for a post or set as the account's default, and nothing else.
• Deletions: a post you asked to be deleted after a set time, thread and all, and nothing else.
• Assist, when you switch it on: likes, reposts and follows of posts and accounts matching the topics you chose, at the pace you chose, inside the hours you set, and never past the day's caps. It is off on every new account. It never replies.

Assist, in numbers

Paid plans can also switch on Assist, which likes, reposts and follows in your topics at a paced, capped rate inside the hours you choose. It is off until you turn it on. These are the four paces and their daily ceilings. Which paces a plan may pick is on the pricing page; the trial runs at Steady at most.

The day's actions are spread through the account's own waking hours, which move a little each day, in a few short sittings rather than a steady drip, with seconds between actions. A daily cap is a ceiling, not a target: a quiet day is left quiet. Follows made by Assist that were not returned are let go after a grace period; accounts you followed yourself are never touched.

Rules that apply on every plan

• Never anyone who may be under 18. An account whose name or bio gives an age under 18, a school year, or a birth date that makes them under 18 is never liked, reposted, followed or shown for a reply, for every account and on every plan.
• Labelled accounts stay with labelled audiences. An account that labels its own posts engages only with people who post or follow content carrying a label from the same family.
• Topics to avoid. Posts mentioning a word on your avoid list, and accounts whose name or bio does, are left alone.
• Never speaks for you. No replies, no messages, no posts you did not write.

Bluesky's rules, and the risk

Bluesky's Community Guidelines prohibit artificially manipulating engagement or follower counts, and its developer guidelines discourage interactions that notify other people without being asked. Assist is paced and capped to stay well inside Bluesky's published rate limits, but an account whose behaviour looks like more than a person would do can be limited or labelled by Bluesky, and that risk is the account owner's. Updrift makes no promise about followers or reach. The Terms say the same.

What you can see and undo

• Every like, repost, follow and post Updrift made is in the action log in the app, with the reason.
• Assist can be switched off in Settings and stops that minute. Posting can be revoked per account.
• Updrift's access can be withdrawn at any time in the app or on Bluesky itself, under Connected apps in your Bluesky settings.
• A cancelled plan stops everything at the end of the period paid for; the data is kept 90 days, then deleted.
