Bluesky for creators

You make the thing. Posting it at the right hour, with the right label, then answering everyone, is the job you did not sign up for. The Planner does most of it.

Why creators are on Bluesky

Because the audience moved, and because a chronological feed with custom feeds on top rewards making things people want rather than gaming a ranking. Art, photography, writing, music, comics, games, video: the communities are there, in feeds and starter packs of their own, and they follow people who post consistently and reply.

Setting up

What to post

The work, in progress and finished. Images with alt text beat text alone for most creators in Updrift's figures; threads keep a longer story in one place; a video goes out as a video. Your best posts from the last year are worth showing again to the people who joined since, spaced out so they never crowd the feed. The Planner does that on its own, 5 posts on Duo and 30 on Studio.

When to post

When your followers are reading, which is measured, not guessed. Each of your posts' first day is counted per thousand followers and set against the hour it went out, on your clock. Add a post to the queue and it takes the next hour that works for your account.

Hashtags

One or two on the post's real topic, on the first post of a thread. Updrift's hashtag table shows which of yours beat your usual, and the composer suggests tags busy in your topic right now.

Answering everyone

Replies are where follows and commissions come from, and they pile up. The Inbox holds replies, mentions, quotes and, when you allow it, direct messages, oldest unanswered first, answered in place. A reply from someone whose profile says they may be under 18 is shown with no reply button and never counted as waiting.

Tracking free

Everything above is measured for one account on the Free plan: followers by the hour, each post's first day, the top line of What works, and a link page on updrift.link with a click count per link. The Planner and the Inbox are what a paid plan adds.

What a paid plan adds

Creators whose posts need a content label have a page of their own: for creators who label their posts.
