A link page for Bluesky

Bluesky's profile has room for one link. A link page is where the rest go, and where you find out which of them anyone clicks.

What a link page is for

A Bluesky bio holds a few hundred characters and one link that people can tap. A link page is an address you put there that opens to every link you want to offer: the shop, the newsletter, the book, the commissions form, the other places you are. It keeps the bio clean and it puts the choosing on a page you control. The useful part, and the part most link pages skip, is counting: which link do people tap, and which post sent them?

Updrift's link page

Every paid Updrift account has a page on updrift.link. Its address is the account's Bluesky handle, or a short name of your own, and the page carries nothing but your links, your name and your avatar.

• Each link is counted. The Link page section in Settings shows clicks per link over time.
• Tracked links per post. A Planner post set to track clicks has its links rewritten to short updrift.link links as it goes out, each carrying the post, so the Growth page shows clicks per post next to that post's likes and reposts. Links to bsky.app are left alone.
• Campaign links. A campaign can have one short link to use outside the posts, in the bio, the link page or a newsletter, whose clicks count towards the campaign as coming from elsewhere. The campaign report shows clicks per post and elsewhere together.
• A content notice. A page marked as sensitive shows a notice first and the links only once the visitor chooses to go on, and it is kept out of search. For an account whose posts carry a content label, that keeps the page in step with the posts.
• No chains and no surprises. A short link only ever goes to the target you set, links to other shorteners are refused, and an address that is not in the registry goes nowhere.

The link page is on every plan, the Free plan included. Tracked links inside your posts, counted per post, come with the paid plans from £4 a month, and the 7-day trial includes them.

Setting it up

1. Open Settings, then Link page. The page has the account's handle as its address.
2. Add links: a title and an address for each, in the order you want them shown. Reorder any time.
3. Choose a short name if you want one, such as updrift.link/yourname. A name you give up sends visitors on to the page for 30 days, then it is free again.
4. If the account labels its posts, mark the page as sensitive so it shows the notice first.
5. Put the address in your Bluesky bio, and anywhere else people find you.

Reading the clicks

Clicks on the page's links show per link, and clicks on tracked links show per post in Growth, so two questions get separate answers: which of my links do people want, and which posts send them there. A post that beat your usual on likes and sent nobody to the link is a good post about the wrong thing; a post with modest likes and many clicks is the one to write again. The campaign report adds sign-ups where the target is a page Updrift can count.

A click is recorded after the visitor has been sent on, so a link is never slower for being counted.

What to put on it

Fewer links than you think. A page of twelve links gets fewer clicks in total than a page of four, because nobody chooses from twelve. Put the thing you most want people to do first, the thing they most want second, and cut the rest. Then read the counts after a month and reorder. A link nobody has tapped in a month is taking room from one they would.
